From time to time I will go back in time and remember some of the amazing trips I have been lucky enough to go on. This one was a special trip that I can’t wait to share. In August of 2019, my wife and I went on a west coast trip that had more adventures than many are able
to see in a lifetime. I will outline the trip and
bring you some of our favorite pictures that we took. I flew to LA to meet up with my wife and we prepared for our first adventure on the Amtrak Coast Starlight traveling from LA to Portland. This was an overnight train that takes about 29 hours to make its way up the coast. We upgraded to the superior roomette which I highly suggest for the long ride. This includes a dedicated bathroom for your car, complimentary meals, and lounge access.
Once we reached Portland we rented a car and made the drive into Mt Rainier. Mt Rainier is a large active stratovolcano in the cascade range of the pacific northwest. Only about an hour from Seattle. We arrived just as the sun was setting and got to see some amazing views as we drove into the national park to the Paradise inn where we would spend 2 nights. The Paradise inn was stunning. I strongly suggest staying here if you get the opportunity. Note many of the rooms do not have bathrooms. The Public showers though were very clean and properly kept up. We got up at a decent hour and began a hike towards Mt Rainier (Paradise). The hike up was beautiful as you will see in the pictures below. As we made our way up it began to get icy and cold, but the views were worth it. As we headed back to the hotel we got caught in a pretty big rainstorm but it was such a great experience. I hope the pictures inspire you to make the trek.
The next day we headed to Seattle.
While you are in Seattle take a side trip to Everett Washington to see the Funko Pop Headquarters. It is a fun stop for any movie fans. If you are a Funko Pop fan, here you can create your own Funko Pop too.
We then went on into Seattle and stayed at the Residence inn just outside of town. It is a lot more affordable to stay outside the city and I felt it was pretty easy to find parking at all the places we wanted to visit. There are so many neat places to visit in Seattle. Here are my suggestions:
The Famous Farmers Market:
The bubble gum wall

The first Starbucks

The space needle

(the best Oysters)
